I don't like Otohime mindset. Submitting with the hope the other party will have a conscience. It holds true only for regular conflicts. When it comes to ethnic or religious war, it's useless. You all know history and know who is fucked in the mind in the past and present days.
Fisher Tiger is the more reasonable way. It won't stop the cycle of violence but it make people think things again. Not the megalomaniac, but common people and soldiers. He keeps his grudges and hate because there are things you can't forget. It serve as a foundation to try getting better but most importantly keep your vigilance up as nothing is a given like we've seen recently in the real world.
Slavery and invasions are bad but it's idiocy to wipe out memorials because of that. Books and arts that commemorate colonization and slavery should only be taken as witness of what we must not do. They are not facts that should be erased to please minority. When the past disappears, people will be tempted to repeat mistakes as they no longer understand the intricacies.
